Reviewed narrative
On supported instruments, CustomCoach can draft a short interpretation of a score profile. The draft is held for the coach. Approve, edit, or regenerate — then the coachee sees it.
For: Any coach using scored instruments
Worked example: Sarah Chen, engineering manager on Acme’s Aspire programme. Mini-IPIP profile.
Fictional composite for illustration. No real client data.
Walkthrough
Sarah’s Mini-IPIP comes back with subscale scores. The coach generates a narrative. It streams in privately. Sarah’s view does not change. The coach edits two sentences that over-claimed, saves and approves. Only then does Sarah see it.
1 · Generate
A button on the result. The draft is a starting point from the score profile and the instrument’s interpretation guide, not a letter to the coachee.
- If generation is unavailable, you still have bands and the guide. The sitting does not depend on a draft.
- Regenerate if the draft misses the person in front of you. Do not polish a miss.
2 · Pending review
Status is visible to the coach only. Original and edited versions are stored. The coachee’s dashboard is unchanged.
- This is the whole product: a hold.
- Leaving it pending for a week is a choice. Approve or discard.
3 · Approve or edit
Approve as written, or edit in place and save. Edited-and-approved is a distinct state so you can see what you changed.
- If you would not put your name on a sentence, cut it.
- The coachee should never have to wonder whether a person read this.
Three insights
1
The hold is the feature
Plenty of tools will write. Few will refuse to show the coachee until you say so. That refusal is the professional standard, not a nicety.
2
Editing is expected
A draft that needs no edit is a coincidence. The stored original is for you, not for an audit of the coachee.
3
Do not lead the engagement with generated text
Use the narrative after you have sat with the scores. It is a write-up, not the session plan.
20 minutes of coach time, not a coachee session
- 0′+5m
Read the scores first
Bands and subscales without the draft. Form your own view.
- 5′+8m
Generate and cut
Remove anything you would not say. Keep developmental language.
- 13′+7m
Approve, then session
Sarah sees it before or after the sitting — your call — but never before you have.
